How much does the audit cost?+
A fixed price for a fixed scope, named on the 20-minute call and confirmed in writing before we start; it does not change during the audit. For context, DesignRush (2026) puts a small-business AI project budget at CAD $7,000 to $28,000 and an agency pilot at the same range, over one to three months. Ours includes the interviews, the process map, the tests on your own material, the ranked plan with costs, and the readout, in two weeks. Building the first automations afterwards is quoted per item.
What does an AI consultant do for a small business?+
Looks at how the work gets done today, finds the recurring tasks where an AI tool saves real hours, tests it on your material, and leaves a plan with costs. That is the audit. The Zensurance 2026 small business index found only 9% of Canadian owners said AI delivered meaningful productivity gains, and 32% saw little or no difference; the usual reason is tools bought without a process. Strategy decks about "AI transformation" are not what we sell.
Which processes do you look at?+
Marketing and client-facing work: proposals and quotes, follow-ups, content and social media, reporting, onboarding documents, invoicing and reminders, meeting notes, customer questions. Manufacturing, accounting and ERP systems are outside the audit; if that is where the hours are, we say so on the first call and name who to ask instead. The audit covers four to six processes in two weeks.
Do you use AI yourselves?+
Yes, every week. Our client invoices go out on the 15th of every month from a scheduled run; contractor payments are reconciled and the dashboard rebuilt on the 8th the same way; a website audit that used to take a week now draws on five data sources in one day. We recommend what we run, and we show the setup on request.
Is our data safe?+
The tests run inside your own accounts or ours, on business terms that exclude training on your data. Nothing confidential is pasted into a free consumer tool. We write down which tool saw what and the list goes in the report. If personal data under PIPEDA is involved, the tool set narrows and the plan says so.
Do we need to buy software first?+
No. Most of the audit uses tools you already pay for, Microsoft 365 or Google Workspace, your CRM, and free trials. The plan lists what to buy, with the monthly price, only where it earns its place; for most clients that line is short.
What happens after the audit?+
Three options: your team runs the plan; your IT provider builds the integrations from it; or we set up the first three automations and train your people, quoted per item. Automation agents and custom integrations we take on with an implementation partner, case by case, and we stay your single contact. The plan is written so that any of the three can pick it up.
