A website nobody can update, a board to convince, one budget. And donations to raise.

The first redesign in many years usually starts with several sites built by several people over the years, a volunteer who knows the password, and a board that wants to see the cost with a breakdown before anything moves.

Non-profit website design, for us, means one site the staff can run, accessible from the first draft because AODA applies and because the people you serve are often the ones the web leaves behind, delivered inside the time and budget you agreed, and maintained for years on a plan the budget can carry.

Our record

Non-profits in Toronto since 2002: mental health services, community agencies, housing corporations, health charities. "They could deliver the complete website within our time and budget restrictions" is a community services agency on Clutch, July 2023, about the 2021 to 2022 redesign.

questions we get

How much does a non-profit website cost in Canada?

According to Project Cost Estimator's 2026 Canadian guide, a small registered charity with CAD $250,000 to $1.5 million in revenue pays CAD $8,500 to $22,000 for a website, built in 8 to 14 weeks; a mid-sized organization CAD $18,000 to $48,000. An AODA accessibility add-on runs CAD $1,800 to $8,500 and a bilingual version adds CAD $2,500 to $12,000. The number for yours depends on how many old sites merge into one, how much content moves, and whether we train your staff to run it. The board gets the breakdown in writing.

Does our website have to be AODA compliant?

In Ontario, yes for designated public-sector organizations and for businesses and non-profits with 50 or more employees: under the AODA, public websites and web content published since 2012 must meet WCAG 2.0 Level AA, in force since 1 January 2021 (ontario.ca, 2026). Smaller organizations are not required to, but funders and auditors increasingly ask. We build every site to WCAG 2.1 AA and test it before launch. For an existing site we run the audit first and give you the list of failures with a fix for each, which is also what a funder asks for.

How do you keep the cost down for a non-profit?

Fewer pages, a simple editor your staff can use, templates your team reuses for reports and events, and a yearly support plan instead of ad-hoc fixes. According to GoDaddy (2026), small-business website maintenance runs CAD $70 to $700 a month; Project Cost Estimator (2026) gives CAD $110 to $680 a month for Canadian charities from micro to mid-sized. We have maintained client sites for ten years on that basis, including Ashley Manor Housing since 2023.

Can we see similar non-profit work?

Yes: Durham Mental Health Services, branding, website and an app, 2014 to 2021; Catholic Community Services of York Region, website redesign and video, 2021 to 2022; Ashley Manor Housing, hosting and changes since 2023. What a non-profit site needs that a business site does not: accessibility as a legal duty, a donate flow that works on a phone, an intake form that reaches the right person, and a maintenance plan the budget can carry. Ask on the call and we will walk you through one of them.

Do you help with donor and grant communications?

Yes: the case for support, the annual report, the campaign materials and the email templates, in one brand system so the organization looks like one it is worth funding. The same templates serve the grant application and the board deck, which saves staff time every quarter. Bring last year's annual report to the first call; it is the fastest way to see what the system has to cover.

Can you work with our board and volunteers?

Yes. We present to boards in their language, a budget line and a risk line rather than design talk, keep the approvals to two rounds, and train the staff member or volunteer who will run the site after launch. The training is recorded, so the next volunteer can watch it too.
